FAQ
It is Focused on Depth of Understanding,
Students need to understand math deeply in order to apply it fruitfully. The sessions are created by addressing each student's needs sequentially and thoroughly; tutor supervises and corrects student's problem solving technique and organizes each lesson by level of difficulty; introducing theory, problem-solving approach, and questions/exercises that allow students to master their essential mathematical skills, communicate about mathematics, and attempt more challenging thorough-provoking problems. Also, students learn to visualize mathematical problems to crystallize the logical relations. Applications of mathematics are integrated throughout this program, since students can better understand mathematical principles when they are related to their applications. General keying sequences are given for scientific/graphing calculators where appropriate
How does tutoring work?
What's the minimum time to work with a tutor?
-
Each session begins with GET READY; review of prerequisite skills that reinforces the background and provide exploration and further practice
-
Most sessions begin with a DISCOVER; where the students have an opportunity to perfectly understand and explore the concepts. Most examples are set in a realistic context, similar to situations that students may encounter in the workplace. Full, structured solutions are given;
-
KEY CONCEPT; presents a summary of each session, and is followed by discussion-based questions. These will ensure students have grasped the key idea of the session before processing with the exercises;
-
PRACTICE QUESTIONS; have detailed solutions that show problem solving methods, highlight concepts and apply them to real life problems, and point out potential sources of errors.
-
PROBLEM WRAP-UP; pulls together students' work and gives an opportunity to develop a solution
-
PRACTICE TEST; at the end of each session provides a more open-ended opportunity to demonstrate knowledge learned, apply critical-thinking skills and provide an opportunity to asses student's learning
-

What are the features of tutoring sessions?
Depending on the student needs and goals we can meet regularly on “as-needed” basis. In general, if student needs to cover gaps in learning, or has fallen behind and needs to catch up, - two session are recommended per week for the best result
